Back to Neopets | Petpets | More Neopets Neopets...
GrarrlA Grarrl closely resembles a Tyrannosaurus rex. They come from the Neopian world of Tyrannia, although the Grarrl was one of the original Neopets on the site. They are generally among the strongest and fiercest Neopets and can eat just about anything. They enjoy causing destruction and intimidating other Neopets. In the Neopets TCG, Grarrls are associated with the element of darkness. Famous Grarrls include:
• Galgarath, the General of Lord Darigan's army.
• Galem Darkhand the honorless thief.
• Torakor the Grarrl Gladiator, one of the 12 protectors of Altador.
• Grarrg the Tyrannian Battlemaster.
GrundoGrundos look like space aliens. They were originally imprisoned by the evil Dr. Sloth, who transformed them into large, intimidating servants/slaves. They are, however, naturally friendly, although not the brightest. They enjoy eating, but put on weight easily. They were released on August 24, 2000. In the early days of the site, they were originally said to have originated from a far away planet called "Doran", however recently this has been retconned and now Grundos are originally from Neopia's solitary moon - Kreludor. Another aspect of Grundos that they once possessed was is that they could only speak in backwards English (IE - "olleh" meant "hello"). Grundos are unique among the various species of Neopets in that they must be adopted from the Virtupets Space Station (instead of created in the usual way). There they are available in seven different colors instead of the four available to other pets. The reason for this unusual situation is that they were originally adopted by players as part of one of Neopets' stories, in order to put a stop to one of Dr. Sloth's evil schemes. They were first put up for adoption on October 24, 2000. In the Neopets TCG, Grundos are associated with the element of light. Famous Grundos include:
• Gorix, partner to Cylara.
• Four Virtupets producers from the old Neopet v2 plot:
o Blarthrox o Grimilix o Tazzalor o Zyrolon • Zargrold, a player in the Gormball game.
• Zygorax, the star of the game Evil Fuzzles From Beyond the Stars.
• Gargarox Isafuhlarg, the cook at the Grundos Cafe in the Space Station.
HissiThe Hissi is a snake-like Neopet with wings. It was released May 4, 2005. Hissi have acute vision and a keen sense of smell which makes them extremely good at games of hide and seek. Kastraliss, the evil purple snake-like monster who flies through Bogshot Village spreading death and decay bears a striking resemblance to a Hissi. Darigan Hissis are even being thought to be modelled after Kastraliss due to their resemblance to each other. A monster in the Deserted Tomb in Gerapiktu looks suspiciously like a Hissi.
IxiThe Ixi is basically a goat/deer-like creature. They originally came from the Neopian world of Meridell and were the 46th species introduced on the site. Before the introduction of the Yurble and Ruki in May and July of 2004, the Ixi enjoyed the status of newest species for almost two years. They were originally released on July 11, 2002. In general, they are curious, dainty, and enjoy playing hide and seek. In the Neopets TCG, Ixis are associated with the element of Earth. Famous Ixis include:
• Nabile, from the Lost Desert plot.
• Sinsi, who runs a game called 'Shapeshifter' in Meridell.
• Sophie the Swamp Witch, who resides in a swamp within Werelupe Woods.
JetsamJetsams are shark-like creatures, possibly related to the similarly aquatic Flotsam. They tend to be unfriendly and are powerful fighters. The Jetsam was one of the original Neopets. Due to their habitat and food source loss during the destruction of Maraqua, they are limited edition. A few may be made available on the site periodically; players can also use certain items to change their pets into Jetsams. In the Neopets TCG, Jetsams are associated with the element of water. Famous Jetsams include:
• Spectre, the once said world-champion Cheat! player. He also was seen in the "Brucey B and the Lucky Coin" Plot run on the Neopets site in the earlier days of Neopets.
JubJubJubJubs look like furry balls of fluff with large feet and round eyes. Most JubJubs have black eyes and orange feet, although this may vary when a JubJub is "painted" to be a different color other than the standard red, yellow, green, or blue. JubJubs can be painted many of the same colors as other Neopets, and more exotic, JubJub-specific colors are possible. These include Coconut in which the JubJub looks like a coconut, and Garlic which causes it to resemble a bud of garlic. JubJubs are generally shy creatures. When threatened, they can curl into a ball and roll with astonishing speed. They can also make a deafening screech to drive off attackers. There has been some question as to whether JubJubs are related to the toy known as the Fuzzle, as the Fuzzles are similar to JubJubs in appearance. However, an entry in the Neopets help files denounces the rumor that Fuzzles are baby JubJubs, and explains that they are just toys. In the Neopets TCG, JubJubs are associated with the element of air. Famous JubJubs include:
• JarbJarb, the Tyrannian JubJub.
• Boraxis the Healer from the on-site NeoQuest RPG game.
• Two JubJubs feature in two games:
o JubJub Blackjack o Jubble Bubble. • Jub Zambra, a Cobrall Charmer, is a member of the band "Jub Zambra and the Cobrall Charmers".
KacheekThe Kacheek looks like a cross between a teddy bear and a mouse or gerbil. Kacheeks are generally pleasant and are described on the Neopets site as fun-loving, calm, peaceful, and modest. They inhabit lush meadows, although they enjoy climbing things, and avoid violence whenever possible. The Kacheek was first known as the Badeek, one of the original pets on the site. It wore dark glasses and a less cheerful expression, possibly as a "bad seed" parody of Pikachu. In the Neopets TCG, Kacheeks are associated with the element of light. Famous Kacheeks include:
• The Breadmaster, who sells bread and other bakery items in Neopia Central
• Alton Moughbry, who operates the game Potato Counter
• Albert, who was morphed into a mutant pet by the Esophagor, a monster in the Haunted Woods
• Samrin, the PetPet-protecting hero of the game "Extreme Herder"
• Eliv Thade, a spectral Kacheek who stars as the villain of his own anagram game
• Florin, guardian of the forests and fields of Altador and one of its twelve protectors
KauThe Kau, unsurprisingly, looks like a cow (the name is also pronounced the same way). Kaus generally move in herds and enjoy singing (although they can only "moo"). They are shy, but have no problem using their horns if threatened. In the Neopets TCG, Kaus are associated with the element of Earth. Famous Kaus include:
• Kauvara the potion-maker.
• the fortune-teller from the Lost Desert Plot.
